Man Cold

Man, I'm down in Thun at the moment and I've developed an absolute stinker of a cold, and it was supposed to be a romantic weekend with me and my gf. Now I'm not one to collapse on the sofa moaning at the first sign of a sniffle but this is a humdinger. My gf has been very supportive about this: she's gone for a walk, and I've been dumped in a bar where one can still smoke in the hope I'll recover a bit later. I must say it's not looking good at the moment . Hopefully a few more beers will do the trick.

And why do I always get ill when I've booked holiday from work.

Murphy said it would happen like this (!) He even made a law about it.

I'd prescribe 2 asprin taken with brandy, a blanket and a dvd.

Re: Man Cold

I really sympathize, you're away from home on holiday so you can't just throw yourself into to bed and wait for it pass.

I've been ill for almost 2 weeks now and during holiday time too - it is indeed sh!te

Hope you feel better soon

You old romantic, you. Sitting in a bar, smoking, drinking and idling your time away. Home from home, really

Get well soon.

This is a common phenomenon and has a medical explanation. Stress arrests infection. Afterward when you are on holiday, the immune system relaxes and the viruses take over.

The remedy is simple. Go back to work. Or do something else stressful, like bungee jumping.

That happened to me last year except we were in Paris!! Before we went I declared that we were not going to eat any bland foods. In the end that was all I could eat

Re: Man Cold

Feel much better today, was well enough to explore Thun - beautiful little town, and take the boat to Interlarken - ok but way too touristy for me, however the scenery along the way was fantastic.

Anyway I digress. I appear to have the little b*st*rd cornered in my right nostril at the moment, although it seems my immune system has retreated to regroup. Hopefully to launch a devistating schock and awe type attack later to tonight, which should only leave the insurgents. Those I can mop up over the course of the next week without too many problems

Thanks to all for the "get well soon" comments

Being a woman, you'll never experience a man cold - and you never can. You've no idea how awful they are . I mean, I know childbirth smarts a bit...
