Children/baby/tots friendly places to eat in Switzerland and other fun places/sites

I have not found a specific thread, so here I go.

It is cool to find a nice family friendly place to eat out with a play area (prety much an only place we can take a toddler to eat with us at the moment ) so I thought it would be cool to spread the knowledge about experiences people have going out with babies, tots and older children all over CH since so many people here travel, they might find it handy..So, if anyone knows a place, chip in! Tips are welcome, online resources related to fun with our little ones here, etc.

We just have been to Wolfisberg in Geneva,
Place du Temple 5
1227 Carouge GE, Switzerland
+41 22 342 32 19

And it was fantastic. A separated playarea, the food was nice and situated in lovely Carouge. You can take all the time you need there (play, nurse, change your baby, etc), moms and kids hangout during the weekdays and all families during the weekend. Food is great. (plus a lovely yarn store Tricolaine just around the corner).

Another place that has been out favorite past few years is Signal de Bougy, a lovely big parc with large outside playing area segmented into little parts (and it is free, you can pay for food in the self serve resto, but most people just picknick outside), restaurant inside with a big covered play room for when the weather is not so nice or when family wants to eat and have the kids play at the same time. I think they close soon for winter, so if anyone wants to check it out, hurry. They will have a Halloween party on Thur this week as well.

A great place for winter fun with babies is to take a train to Ste.Cergue and just sledge down from hill, it's a pool shaped mini skiing and sledging area and is great for the really small kiddos and skiing beginners. I have not found a place to eat there that would be suited for small kids but we have had tea and soups in the local restaurants and it was nice. Besides, it is more fun to run home and have fondue.

We have made great use of these little books for fun with kids:
A guide for pick-nick places in Suisse Romande
A guide for playgrounds in Suisse Romande
and the lovely Know-it-all passport for Geneva with all the practical tips for parents and what to do with children for fun in our area.

In the last Babymag.ch I found a nice link for cooking for kids and fell in love with it. It is called Cooking for monkeys and offers some great idea for meals and gorgeous food presentation, especially handy if one has a picky eater. Yum. Babymag is great, by the way, offers tips for travelling with kids in major European cities plus the latest new trendy things, like BIO kid food stores with play corners that just opened in the area, etc. Lots of interesting info.

Anyone any nice places to eat out with kids or go to have fun where you live?

We love to go to Royal Palace for a good curry with our daughter. The owner is so nice to us and to her. He lets her walk by the kitchen and have a look.

Very nice place and we feel more relax with her going around.

Fünfschilling (just over the border in Germany -- great if you have a car) is supposed to be an excellent place for a meal (especially in summer) for families with young kids. I have't been there myself but I've heard glowing reports.

The linky is in German. Here's what Trip Advisor has to say.

If you go -- please post your impressions here!

Wagamama in Zurich is child friendly, especially good on Sundays when there is no crowd.

I second the recomendation of wagamama

The Restaurent MOVIE is quite good too and interesting. They give colour pencils and stuff to kids. It is behind the Movie theater ABC (close to Zurich HB)
One other place we like in the Cafe Zahringer in neiderdorf, they have lot of board games/toys and a great brunch on a sunday and lunch during normal days.
There is this coloured glass house on the lake on warm sunny days, I am not exactly sure about the name but it is quite easy to spot. Great pasta and pizzas/wurst and other grill stuff and breakfast on weekends too.

Bindu,
you mean Kiosk in Seefeld?
I second that.

I also like Mishio, they have pencils, colorbooks, Trip Traps and a child-menu and really like kids. In Summer, you can sit outside in their little garden.

GrütFarm in Adliswil is also child-friendly, have a children's menu, play-area, pencils and colorbook and lots of Trip Trap.

Yes I meant the KISOK...love that place, best view with the lake and the mountains...what better could one ask in zurich

Oh!And I almost forgot the Backer'n'Lage restaurent inside the park after Helvetiaplatz (walk in the direction of Tram 8), it is a pretty informal lunch/dinner place. And mostly the menu is the menu of the day with a good variety and their soups are quite good. A section of the restaurent is a GZ zentrum, so tons of toys and several play things right outside the restaurent. You can basically sit inside and keep an eye on kids as the walls are glass and they have outdoor seating in summer.

I guess this park has the most life and is quite vibrant (also safe if you are worried!).

The Park im Grüene or Duttipark in Rüschlikon is also perfect for kids. it has a Migros Restaurant, not really stylish, but in summer perfect to sit outside and let the kids run around. The adjacent playground is just perfect!

Pizza Pasta Ciao on Asylstrasse in Hottingen, one stop down from Klusplatz, actually has a playroom with a babysitter. The wait staff calls down to the playroom when the childrens' meals are ready, and the babysitter sends them up. The food is okay, not fantastic, and some of the fresh pasta dishes are quite good. There is scarcely a table there without children. www.pizzapastaciao.ch

Re: Children/baby/tots friendly places to eat in Switzerland and other fun places/sit

I just saw that a kid friendly place café / bar has recently opened in the university quarter. It has a kids' corner and offers kid entertainment afternoons. It is called Bam Bam, is at Rigiplatz 1 (close to the tram stop Seilbahn Rigiblick), where the Thai all you can eat place used to be.

And while I do not have kids, myself, I think they are also good with children at Hiltl. We went there, last Sunday, and they allowed the children of the other guests to draw on the glass wall of the staircase.

Hotel Züriberg is very good for having brunch/lunch as they have a small playground outside and a terrace that you can see your kid while eating.. (If they dont call you continuesly to play with.. )

If sitting inside, they have a playroom next door with coloring books, toys, etc.. And of course dipers changing place at toilet.

And the food is perfect as well as the view..

Re: Children/baby/tots friendly places to eat in Switzerland and other fun places/sit

I was searching for more Child friendly restaurants - come accross and thought to share some of my findings as well

There's one Swiss / German style restaurant located at Katzensee, called "Waldhaus Restaurant" - it has a small playground outside. There's even a mini train open next to the rest during Summer time (only in weekend though) - kids loved it..even adults (me for exmaple). The playgroud has all kind of stuff such as bumble car ride, horse riding and etc...but of course you need to pay CHF1 for each time

http://www.waldhaus-katzensee.ch/

There's also the Rolli's Steakhouse in Sternern Oerlikon - really kids friendly. Steak is very good, and the owner will even allocate a corner for you and friends with kids if its possible - just make sure you made reservation as it is very popular even among swiss

Wagamama by Sihlstrasse is quite casual, and children are allowed to watch the chefs cook a bit. I was also surprised to see a lot of children in Bimi (Seefeld) the other night. They were all sitting quietly and colouring and eating their sushi. It's great to see that children can go to nice restaurants and be treated well!

Just saw that the place near Rigiplatz, which is called Bam Bam, has opened the garden terrace - also equipped for children, apparently.

I mentioned Bambam here - in the restaurants section. After I emailed the owner, he replied and said they will try and get their Homepage done in English too.

I've no idea if it's any good - comments please - but I recently read an article in the Tages-Anzeiger about this place - Café Bar Bambam. It is on the Rigiplatz in Zürich and could be worth trying out. The German guy running it has an eighteen month old daughter and a two and a half year old son, so there's hope that he knows what he is letting himself in for.

Unfortunately the Homepage is only in German, but I'm emailing them to suggest they add a bit of English.
