Re: Collar neck muscle pain remedy?

Massage Therapy. I recommend this for any pain in the neck, arms, shoulders, legs and back. I just went this morning for a stiff neck caused by travelling and I can finally look over my right shoulder again. Well worth the CHF 80.

Re: Collar neck muscle pain remedy?

I have an "unstable spine" and have had problems with my neck for about 4 years (my trapezius muscle seizes up). This morning I woke up and it had happened again (although on the opposite side to usual, which is a bit odd). I'm wearing my neck brace, but none of the painkillers we have will work, I'm sure of it. Despite the fact that I don't take any medication when it's not absolutely necessary, painkillers don't seem to have much of an effect on me. I'll pop to the pharmacy for some magnesium (thanks for the tip), but has anyone else whose body doesn't really react to painkillers have any tips on one that actually works? Preferably that I can get over the counter... Thanks!

400 mg of Magnesium per day works wonders.. have taken it for back pain, pulled muscles - after 4 days you'll notice a difference.
I was just thinking this. Magnesium works wonders for me. Eat loads of spinach or just take the supplement. I really notice the difference if I dont take it.

Re: Collar neck muscle pain remedy?

I've had a lot of spinal problems leading to many sore neck/shoulders/chest occasions- 'Lipofenac gel' (contains diclofenac) from the doc is a great relief when the massage or hot showers and stretches don't do enough after a couple of days. I can't take more than one dose of Ibuprofen orally due to GI probs, and the Ibuprofen gels don't really seem to work as well as the diclofenac gels. Daily stretches take a couple of weeks to really work but you need to be guided through them by a physio really, to get them working just right. Usually helps me, especially when I've been travelling a lot ie sitting on planes - those seats are the worst for neck posture and it doesn't matter which airline I'm using. Massage and heat does help things along enormously.

Try dolo-spedifen forte 400. Seems to work much better than other stuff. Hope it will help you.

Yes! It contains the active ingredient ibuprofen, like many other analgesics; but it is combined with something else; I reckon it is the other substance that makes the difference.

Re: Collar neck muscle pain remedy?

Hi everybody! I donīt feel well since yesterday.
I started to feel a neck pain and immediately I went to the bed for resting.
I took some medicines for neck pain. I put a towel around my neck like neck collar or cervical collar to protect it. It hurts so much. I donīt know what to do īcause Iīve to work and study in front of the computer!!! and the worst, Iīve my notebooks on the table for preparing student materials and for my 4 examens on Monday.
Also I massaged myself with a gel to stop the pain, but it didnīt work.
It hurts so much, anyone in here has passed in the same situation? How many days to stop this pain, please?

Re: Collar neck muscle pain remedy?

Did the pain come on suddenly? Was it in response to a sudden movement? Do you have an weakness in your arms, or anywhere else? Are there any areas of numbness, especially in your arms or hands? On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being mild pain and 10 being the most excruciating pain you can imagine, how bad is the pain?

If the pain is so bad that it stops you sleeping, studying or generally getting on with life, see a doctor, or go to emergency at the nearest hospital.

Re: Collar neck muscle pain remedy?

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. I was training for a triathlon and pinched a nerve after a long swim session. I was in so much pain that I couldn't sleep and felt sick to my stomach. A few sessions at the osteopath really helped. He told me that it was my levator scapular muscle that was causing the problem. Now I know a few good stretches and do them regularly and haven't had the problem since. Flector patches might help too.

Thanks a lot.
Lately I felt this pain gradually, but yesterday It started hardest. I put a towel as a cervical collar for while around my neck. The pain is around my neck and some parts of my shoulder. The rest of members is well for while.
Iīve never felt it before, Iīve just remember one day (almost 7 years ago) in a little road (Ain department - France) with an old couple, I set on back seat without protection (seat belt). The driver stopped the car hardly and at this moment my head had thrown away and it touched the front seat and forced my neck to turn. Of course I felt much pain, but it was in that occasion and after I was better. So I think is a traumatic ache.
The problem now is it comes back and it hurts so hard in the raison of I spend many hours in front of the computer to study and to work. Sometimes I do fitness (but so little) and Tai Chi-Chuan mouvements to be good.
I took a remedy named Fenaflan - one before to sleep and another one after my breakfast.
Well... my scale is 3 - Iīve an unpleasant ache, but I can walk and do many simple mouvements, so itīs not necessary to be on the bed all day.
Yes, youīre alright! I think I need to see a doctor.

Thanks again and have a great Easter day.
Ps: Could I eat my chocolates?
