| | | Help!! Im turning into my mom!!
Then:
Mom: Clean your room/help around the house, this is not a hotel
Me: But i did it yesterday/last week/its my room i like it messy
Now:
Cant bear to see anything out of place. Im turning into a cleanness freak!
Then:
Mom (at noon): Are you still in your pijamas? Get dressed!
Me: Why? Im not going anywhere
Now:
Cant function if i im not showered and dressed
Then:
Mom: Get up its almost noon!
Me: Grrr, mmmmm, hmph, zzzzz...
Now:
Sleeping when the sun is out is a waste of time
Is this the result of living on your own or im just (no!!!) growing up?
Anybody else who (yikes!!) turned into their mom/dad?

Same here...
I like to keep things clean, I do like to be in my pajamas, but I realise staying in bed until 2pm is a waste of a good day. Been waking up earlier an earlier for the past few years during my free time.

Sweetie, it happens to the best of us . According to a friend of mine there is an inner switch in women that get permanently turned on after either getting married or living together with your significant other.

Reminds me of Charles Aznavour's 1975 song: Tu t'laisses aller:
The relevant lines (from an excellent bilingual lyrics) are towards the end: | Quote: | | | | Comm' ça tu ressembles à ta mère That way you look like your mother Qu'a rien pour inspirer l'amour Who has nothing to inspire love

I know I'm turning into my mom... I go through this any time I'm not living alone even.
I remember my parents (particularly mom) refusing to "clean up after" us when we were kids - but yet were sloppy themselves.
These days, I am fairly neat on my own but o m goodness I *hate* cleaning up after someone else. It's one thing to clean up after a child (which I don't recall my mother ever doing actually although I'm sure at some point she must have), something else entirely to clean up after a perfectly capable adult. This was cause for some friction in my teen years as both of my parents are lazy and sloppy.
While on one hand I think it is unfair to heap my cleaning psychosis on my parents, on the other hand, I feel pretty sure it can be safely laid in that direction. | | This user would like to thank Peg A for this useful post:

I've developed the same "tut" and stern look as my mother since my son hit toddler-hood and he's been caught doing something he shouldn't. I also catch myself saying the same things (Don't play with your dinner, it's food and not a toy!).
For the chaps, according to Peter Kay, you know you have turned into your father when you find you are keeping a stick of wood in the garage specifically for stirring paint.

Yes , quite a worry really , if you think about it.
More so if you are a man.

A relevant article: Mums DO know best: How we copy their sayings to tell off our own children: | Quote: | | | | Most women think they can't possibly grow up to be just like their mothers, with all their annoying sayings. Well, as their mothers probably told them, there's no such word as can't.
Eight out of ten of today's mothers admit they use the very same cliches to discipline their children that they had to endure from their own parents.
Top of the list of phrases they used was the simple, yet infuriatingly effective response to a child asking why they have to do something: 'Because I said so.'

Anybody else who (yikes!!) turned into their mom/dad? | | | | | Hmm... this does strike a chord...
Although there are certain things/attitudes that I worked hard to *not* acquire because I felt strongly that I did not want to continue certain dysfunctional behaviour into my own life... erm... there are still moments when I say something and twitch a bit as I hear it coming out of my mouth. Or I catch myself doing something a certain way...

Oh lord, I know what you mean...growing up I hated those little things that my mom would say and do. Now I find myself doing and saying the same things to my son without even realizing it. I think I've become my mom, I hate it, so I'm working on it. :-)

WELL,ya,know. Why the hell not?your mom is likley a great person trying to instill what was hammered into her head when she was a kid,mom from the war and great depression era?
your mom is open enough to express her beliefs-why not also be an adult and tell her how u feel-that you have found that u enjoy to sit around in your pjs all day and order out for 3 meals in a row sometimes.let her see that u are an adult and have made your own decisions as to your free time.u could be out in the clubs till sometime 2 days later as well.maybe it opens the door to some adult conversation.I had a difficult situation with my parents-them speaking and me reacting as though i was 14 yrs old and guilty of something.
so-relax,enjoy nad give some sense to your mom as to what u need to be happy.i think u mite be happily surprised-be free-the truth is never wrong-
good luck-happy new year-
