local schools in Geneva

Hi,
It has been a difficult decision to make, but finally decided to put my kids age 11 and 8 in local swiss school in Geneva. Now the question which neighborhood is considered the best school district in Geneva??
Does anyone have experience with local schools in GENEVA ?
Do they offer a welcome class for students with no French experience?

Give it a little time, someone from Geneve, or who had experience in Geneve, will chime in here with some recommendations.

If it were Lausanne you would be locating to I could be of help.

Rgds

Re: local schools in Geneva

Perhaps this Site will help.

Regarding getting quick answers, you'll have to reckon with the fact that a lot of folk on here came 'temporarily' for their job and are single, haven't children in school as yet or send their children to an International School. Those who have settled down themselves may no longer have reason to log in every day.

If you don't have a lot of joy with answers, it might be worth searching on the Forum - things like 'Geneva schools', 'Geneva children' and see if you can find posts from folk who live here and send their offspring to school in Geneva. You could try PMing them if you cannot find the Info you need elsewhere.

Good luck with your search.

Re: local schools in Geneva

I was not expecting a very quick reply. I am quite new to this site, only a month or two. I have found this to be a very helpful site and have had most of my questions answered fairly quickly. That is why I was surprised no one had any comments to make to this post.
Thank-you for the advice on searching. I have tried, but I guess I was not putting in the write words.

Re: local schools in Geneva

Two of my children attending the local school in Petit-Lancy and the other one went to college. It was a few years ago and I have to be honest in saying that the choice was initially made as my husband was working for a Swiss company and he was just paid an average salary. However, I am really pleased that it went that way as they intergrated into the local community in no time, were fluent quickly and I made friends with the locals and had a great time.

The teachers spoke english and really went out of their way to make life easier for them and they have made lifetime friends. You really need to know which area of Geneva you will be living in . Good luck
