certificate of good health?

Hi all,

I will be moving to Geneva next week to start a short-term contract with the UN, and I've just been informed today that I must provide a "certificate of good health" from a doctor before my first day of work (February 8).

I'm in Buenos Aires, Argentina right now, and no one here seems to have a clue of how to get one of these. Since I fly out on Tuesday, I don't have much time left to do it here anyway.

Anyone know if I could get one at a hospital or doctor's office in Geneva, and if so how expensive it might be?

Many thanks for your help!

Wendy

It is indeed compulsory to provide this certificate if you are working with UN.You can get this certificate from any GP in Geneva for which you will need an appointment in advance. Whatever will be the charges, UN will refund it to you so just relax and start packing for your trip to Geneva.

Re: certificate of good health?

I am in the exact same situation as the OP, except that I am already in Switzerland (Gland).

My first question is if anyone knows a GP who will do this in Gland. (If not, I will go to Geneva, though I'd prefer not to).

Secondly, can anyone else verify the above statement?!

Re: certificate of good health?

Surely you can go to any GP? Presumably your regular doctor would be best as they know you the best and would be able to issue the certificate after a shorter examination.

I had to provide what sounds like a similar certificate (not for the UN) when I came here and I just went to my parents GP, as I was staying with them.

Thanks for replying. Normally I'd ask my GP from back in the US (haven't needed one here yet) but they need something more recent (1 year old max). I've scheduled an appointment in Geneva tomorrow, just a bit worried about the costs...
