I actually asked a lot of men who i know cheated on their girlfriends/wives and thats the answers i got:

- I cheat just because i can.
- Im away for a long time and i have needs
- When you are in a different country it doesnt count
- My wife/girlfriend doesnt want to have sex any more
- I fell in love with someone else but i also love my wife/girlfriend
- My relationship is dead but its too much hassle to break up

I guess when you are "one of the guys" people tell you things I dont have any answers from women because basically i didnt ask any :P

You'd probably get the same answers from women

rather like the old "why do people take drugs" line the schools and government bang out, "peer pressure, depression, being in with the crowd", every last line under the sun, except "you feel great" which is the reason people take them mostly.

... he/she makes you feel desirable again
... you married someone who is the perfect societal match but not whom your heart would choose
... you have different sexual needs to the partner or don't dare discuss those needs
... you feel taken for granted
... your partner is overly controlling, so you try to escape
... sex is not just sex but a sort of bargaining tool
So many reasons... not all can be avoided but some definitely could if people stopped assuming things and just talked to each other.

Good post. Cheating doesn't solve problems but sometimes neither does talking to your partner.

I think women often cheat because they are unhappy in their relationship or something is missing in their relationship...

My 2 cents : I don't understand why people cheat. It's like if they didn't understand the chance they have to be with somebody who love them.
