Could anyone recommend a good dermatologist in Basel specialized in psoriasis.. my psoriasis disappeared during pregnancy but it is making a come back grrr...

I don't know if this guy specializes in Psoriasis but he certainly specializes in Dermatology so I am sure he could deal with your problem. His practice is in Reinach.

I am not sure dermatologists can specialize in one single disease but more likely in a spectrum of disease such as all those dermatologic diseases having to do with autoimmunity. Without wanting to confuse you, if you are new in Basel I would recommend having a GP, at the universitatspital they have great doctors and I am sure you can find a dermatologist there.
I go there to the gynecology unit often and I am truly impressed, doctors in CH are pretty good and knowledgeable.

I can recommend this guy, friendly staff as well, just make sure to get the reference from your hausartzt because the therapy doesn't come cheap.

I am digging this thread back again

For the past few days, I feel itching in my face all of sudden (though not for the whole day, atleast two or three times a day). I can feel small sand like pimples. Also feel itching in body, though no allegries or rashes seen.

So, came here in search of a good dermatologist recommendation (esp in Basel stdt area).

Please kindly update if you know any dermatologists and yes, thanks to all who have already provided informations in this thread.

Do you mean the Frau Clinic of University Hospital? I went there once. They said will allow emergency cases only. Since I had UTI problem that day, I got to see a doctor. So, will they give an appointment to visit a dermatologist?

Give them a call (Universitatspital) they will tell you when there is an opening but if you say you have intense itching they might even see you today, good luck.

Don't refer yourself to a specialist - go to a GP/physician in the first instance - you don't know what's wrong with you and are not qualified to make a referral.

Frankly, I don't understand the GP/Physician concept here. Sorry for being a dumb. So far in my 3 years life in Switzerland, only once (that too on a sunday) I went to University Hospital for UTI issue. So no idea whom to contact first.

Well finding a GP is tough (there was one in my building but she went on maternity leave for an extended period) but I'd say going to a hospital isn't too bad. There are hundreds of serious illnesses which present skin rashes/reactions as symptoms but which are inappropriate for a dermatologist (meningitus for one). If you notice a sudden onset of a skin irritation you should go straight to your GP or casualty triage.

Economisto is right, something that for us lay people could be just a rash or a skin reaction could be something else and better to see a GP first, unless of course it is going to the OB/GYN.
Another way of finding a GP (at least what I did) was to call my insurance (SWICA) and asked, they told me I could go to their health center or go to another GP and they could give me the address to one nearest to me. I decided to go to their health center and it has been great, again, good luck!
