Sport Clinic Zurich - Any experience?

Hello,

Anybody have any experience with Sport Clinic Zurich?

Search of EF yielded one result that was favourable.

My wonky ankle is much better but now the knee is bearing the brunt of it. I think it's time I get it checked out before I completely mess up hiking/golf season.

Thanks in Advance!

Yes. One of my friends went there. They have excellent doctors.

Re: Sport Clinic Zurich - Any experience?

Yes, I have been there a few times to see a doctor about a non-sports related injury. I was able to book a same day appointment and within minutes of seeing the doctor, I received a blood test.

I spoke English to the doctor. We communicated without any problems.

One of the receptionist does not speak English at all whereas the nurse (who seems to double as a receptionist) speaks very good English. They all tolerated my low-level German though.

The doctors there assist the Swiss Olympic teams by the way.

Hi,

I have been there a few times for physiological testing on Tödistrasse and my GP is one of the doctors at Technopark, Dr Bischoff. They are great, very friendly and really accomodating. No complaints. I think that a general check up is in the region of 80CHF

Good luck!

Re: Sport Clinic Zurich - Any experience?

Thanks for the help all,

Had my visit today and service was excellent. Turns out my problem is a little more serious than I thought but not as bad as it could be. Thankfully, everyone spoke English as my German is still non existant

Total time spent in the office was 30 minutes, including Xray. Overall, luminousmind approves of Sports Clinic Zurich.

I have had good experiences with them. I saw them a few times about the tendons around my knee and they gave me some therapy with a device that hits your tendon many times per second and helps it to repair and become stronger. Then I took some performance tests with them - lactate threshold and body fat. Then finally I went to them for when I woke up every day without energy, and they ran tons of tests like I wanted to eliminate serious illness and disease and eventually prescribed a natural medicine called Rebalance that got me on my feet again. It contains St Johns Wort.

Doctors are good, but do not go for any of their insoles (Todistrasse) . It is a rip-off and they do it bad.

I do not personally believe in insoles. I am now a converted minimalist runner. I run in a mix of barefoot, Vibrams and Newton Sir Isaac Guidance Trainers. I used to have lots of knee problems. I now have no issues despite high mileage of up to 130km per week at times.

Hello hello, as far as I know the services at the Sport Clinic are not covered by insurance and probably they vary about the specialist you need to see, but any ideas about how much a general check up would cost? Thanks!

Re: Sport Clinic Zurich - Any experience?

they only take privately insured persons. they make the whole examine which must pay the health insurance. then you will be transferred to another hospital. it is not fair that the sports clinic takes the money and then others must do the work. best go straight to the hospital Balgrist. highly trained physicians, super room service.

I go there and yes they are covered by insurance. Both by regular health insurance and SUVA accident insurance.

I've had physio, x-rays, an MRI and seen a surgeon there.

I went there because the last place I saw decided they weren't going to help me get back to my previous level of activity. This place actually seems to want to get me back to running 30-40K per week without pain instead of writing me off.

They didnt make me go somewhere else after examining me. They treated me there.

A lot of the SportClinic team moved to MedBase http://medbase.ch a few years back, so the last time I tore my calf muscle I went to MedBase and received a course of physio there. 4 weeks later and I was able to participate in the border to border cross country ski event in Finland.

Huh, MedBase was where I had the bad experience.

"These exercises are making things much worse"
"Well, keep doing them and let's re-evaluate."
I dutifully continued for two weeks.
"So thing are so bad right now, can we figure out what's going on? The treatment is clearly not working"
"Well, we can't do anything else but these exercises."

Errr, what? No diagnostics past the basics, and my physiotherapist did not help at all. Mind you, the first set of physio I did there in 2012 after an accident before they moved their niederdorf location did help quite a bit...
