Somebody recommended the Dentists in the Bahnhof Shopping in Zurich to me. Apparently you can go without an appointment. I wonder if anybody on this forum has used them?

I can recommend Dr Levy on Seefeldstrasse, next door to the Iroquois (conveniently) at Höschgasse tram stop. English speaking, very good, very professional and very reasonably priced. http://www.dent.ch/

Dr Christian Strässler
Goethestrasse 9
8712 Stäfa
044 926 23 25
If you want an excellent English/German speaking dentist you'll be very happy with Dr. Strässler.
Not in Zurich but is in the Zurich area and a very short walk from the Stäfa train station.
However, be prepared to pay Swiss dental rates.

Give them a call, they're all pretty friendly.

Less than a 15 minute train ride out of Zurich HB, lots of dentists to choose from, really quick to get an appointment, not expensive at all, and you can arrange payment in installments sometimes. http://www.dental-centers.ch/index.p...mid=96&lang=de | | This user would like to thank havanah for this useful post: | |

I had a good experience with Dr. Mettler, at banhof Stadelohfen: http://www.mettler-dent.ch/
He did a good job and had a very good English. Might not be the cheapest around though.

Hi,
My wife might need to visit a dentist as she is having some pain in one of the molar. So what would be the cost for the general check up? She might get the treatment done in our home country if it is really worse.
Thanks for your replies!

This is a bit of an old thread, but since no-one's mentioned it:
For children you should check out the Schulzahnkliniken (school dentists). They are very well equipped, professional and reasonably priced based on income. It goes without saying that they are used to seeing children . The one in Münchhalden has fantastic staff.

I took my daughter to swiss smile in the Bahnhof. They were very nice to her, but since they will not use laughing gas, I paid 300 francs to watch my daughter squirm around and leave with no work done. I know get all our work done in the US and our dental insurance here actually covers it!

I cannot tell you where to go, but I can tell you definitely where NOT to go. I went to Dr. Vanja Weiss (Seilergraben 61, 8001 Zürich) for a routine dental cleaning.
What a mistake! First she made me wait for 50 minutes even though I had an appointment. When she finally started my work, she kept running back and forth to fix another patient in another room. She spent 20 minutes cleaning my teeth and did such a horrible job that actually traumatized me for a whole week. After that my gums swelled and became painful and finally I had to see another dentist to fix that.
Dr Weiss finally sent me a bill that charged me 230 CHF for 20 minutes of dental cleaning. When I complained she told me that she has told me while cleaning my teeth that my gums are a little swollen. This apparently counted as a "diagnosis" which she charged me 90 CHF extra for!
She is a butcher and a thief. Avoid her at any cost.

Cant help you directly, but I had this after root canal. I kept a strong mouthwash in my mouth for 5 minutes, and scrubbed / flossed / brushed the surrounding gums. It's likely that the root canal is leaking and you are getting food etc into the gaps , this in turn is getting infected, so hyper-oral hygiene is key until you can get the problem sorted out. Teething gel / Bonjela , clothes oil and painkillers will help. A mouthful of whiskey , pushing it back and forth around the surrounding area helps too.
Don't delay. A German speaking dentist will see you, and soon diagnose this, not much English has to be exchanged. An X-Ray etc will soon tell him what you can't.
