The only good advice on this thread is to consult your gp and if apnea is the case then to use the cpap machine, there is no alternative. The scalpel doesnt work and neither do the home made remedies. It s far too dangerous a condition to ignore.
not entirely correct - my husband's doc developped a method that eliminates reasons for apnea so that no CPAP is necessary - his uncle needs to sleep with one and it's extremely loud and uncomfy and he needs to wear it every night for the rest of his life.

Hubby snored so bad, ear plugs and all devices and herbs did not help, even the neighbours could hear him through the wall - surgery, a little pain I admit, rather high costs but he's snore free and he sleeps a lot better than ever before.

Re: Snoring...

Well, I was told that I snore ... and my old Mum tried a trick she`d learned from her Mum ... and it worked .... so my old Mum said. I don`t know as I was asleep anyway and never hear anything.

She soaked a big towel in water, wrung it out, and hung it near my bed.

She swore blind I stopped snoring.

About "his uncle needs to sleep with one and it's extremely loud and uncomfy"
then he needs to change his machine & mask for different models. Modern machines are extremely quiet

Re: Snoring...

I suggest you go through www.cpaptalk.com which is America based with
lots and lots of information. The Forum is very active.

I am on a CPAP machine "SOMNObalance" - German, for the last two years
having been to the "Schlafmedizin" unit in Salem spital Bern and has helped
me with a heart problem too. As I am in my seventies I have benefited a
much by this therapy. The Machine is rented to the user at 4.50 Fr. per day
and borne by the Health Insurance policy.

Absolutely. My wife says that it makes a noise a bit like the waves on the seashore. And it's not that uncomfortable either. If it's making too much noise then it is either old or there is something wrong with it.

This sounds mad enough to work . Might give it a go and see what happens. Could always 'accidentally' fall on over his face if it doesn't work .

Re: Snoring...

If my partner's snoring is keeping me awake, then usually try gentle massage with fingers, starting on forehead, work down nose - 2 hands down cheeks

will have to update after next time, as dont remember the rest if necessary (Seem to recall can very nice for one or both of us!), but much nicer than 'bashing' that I would not do, as love too much.

those nose things handy for long flights

Re: Snoring...

I don't know if it's coincidence or not but I swear that a steamer helps. I won't go into details (mostly out of embarrassment) but I would be interested in hearing other people's feedback. Just buy a cheap one from Interdiscount and try it out.
