This is really the key. Who makes more may be an insecurity in one way or another, but it is only amplified if your view(s) on money and spending differ significantly from your partner.

I know about one case here in Swiss They've been together for 1 year. She is the money maker. he is, of course, the housewife by now...

They seem to be a happy couple.

I'd love to be a housewife without kids, I clean my own place anyway, might just as well make it my full-time job.

Ahhh yes BUT being a housewife isn't just about cleaning up after yourself you see...

It gets old I tell ya, old!

I don't want you to get this the wrong way but:

My grandma was a a housewife and my grandfather's assistant (worked for the State)

she did not only manage to do the house stuff but work full time too. And also arranged the constant movings that the Job implied. She did that for 30+ years.

On the last years on government service she even managed to take care of me too.

So i guess it doesn't get that old.
