I think the women in Switzerland don't need to worry about that. Actually, maybe that's why womens' salaries are keep under mens'. So we don't all go out to get a boy-toy!

Infidelity is on the rise regardless of how much money is made by each person in the relationship... The sanctity of marriage just doesn't mean what it used to (in many cases).

The article is not even funny or entertaining. The study on the other hand seems to be very questionable:

How much is much? Is there only a statistical connection or a causal one? Couldn't it be: If you earn much less, you are probably less educated. I am not saying that less educated people cheat more, but maybe they are more likely to admit it in a survey

- Munsch found that almost 7 percent of the men reported having sex outside their relationships between 2002 and 2007, while about 3 percent of women did. Black and Hispanic men were more likely than white men to have fooled around.

Seven and three percent? What does a survey say here in Switzerland? "68 Prozent der Deutschschweizer und 80 Prozent der Deutschschweizerinnen behaupten, sie seien in den vergangenen fünf Jahren nie fremdgegangen." (Study of the university of Bern)

My conclusion:
- Swiss men are four times more likely to cheat than Americans - yes, even including blacks and hispanics.

- Swiss women are more than six times more likely to cheat than Americans. They are sluts - it is all in the statistics.

But if you are chained to the kitchen sink, how are you supposed to clean the whole house, take care of the (many) children *and* have dinner on the table by the time he gets home from work with his measly salary?

Oh, I get it, the chain was so that you didn't go out and cheat. Now it all makes sense!

Depending on the house, you will need to adapt the length of the chain. In Swiss apartments they do not need to be very long. Rule of thumbs is that the radius need to include kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

Wait, if a woman earning much more than her husband means *both* partners are more likely to cheat.... what's the problem here folks?

Another question: does the woman then cheat with a man who earns more, or does having a higher salary just mean she's got enough to keep herself a nice stable of boytoy-toyboys?

I'm waiting for a study that says something like "Married men (or women) are 30% more likely to cheat on their spouse than unmarried men." It would make as much sense to me as most of these "studies" on infidelity. I find it hard to believe that people are honest about issues like this to anyone when asked about it. If someone calls you or asks you "Have you ever had an affair?", if you had, would you tell them?

Finally, some sense.

I agree with the part that it also makes it easier for the woman to walk away, but I can assure you this is a global thing, not just American.
I had a better job and better income than a former partner of mine, and I could really feel a growing tension because of that.

There are men who can handle successful women, and there are men who can't.
