Rice Crackers à la Salad Cream though? Smoked Salmon à la Generous Slather of Salad Cream and Nothing Else?
You're talking to somebody who used to eat brown sauce sandwiches when he was a kid. Nothing else. Just brown sauce.

Also, I trained him to love country music, so boom.
Ooooh, please teach me. I'm American married to a Brit, and miss Brad Paisley as he has been banned from our car trips.

I'd be delighted if my wife decided to make me listen to country music.

At the moment, I'm having my ears assaulted by sean nos...

Re: Mixed couples

My wife is Japanese, I am Swiss. First, we lived many years in Switzerland, then many years in Japan.

When we lived in Switzerland, my wife has adopted much of the Swiss way of life. I think, that she liked it and also the Swiss "expect" in a way, that foreigners integrate in as many aspects of Swiss life as possible.

Now, in Japan, I don't integrate that much into the culture; the Japanese kind of "expect" me to be, act and dress "foreign". Plus, I like to have bubbles in my bath and refuse to have mayonnaise on my pizza

Basically, we do as we please, adopt, what we like and leave out, what's not for us. We follow some traditions, that are fun and ditch others, that we think, are useless or nonsense. The language we speak bases loosely on English, but is really GermJapLish gibberish, that only us and our dogs can make any sense of, really. Same basic concept goes for what we cook and eat. A mix of everything we like and I have no problem eating sushi with a fork

Re: Mixed couples

Through his teens and early 20s my husband was enamored of American culture and a lot of his ways are very similar to that of my brothers. Most of our lifestyle is probably very "American" because of this but certain things come out less familiar to me.

One of the biggest ones we've hit actually was to do with Christmas as his mother always has candles on her tree which makes me a bit uncomfortable. Meanwhile, LOVE to have all the other lights off at Christmas with only the tree lit up and leave the tree lit pretty much the whole time which hes not familiar with due to the candles.

Music and food are something which hasn't caused any problems really... my family moved all over so I tend to cook more "traditional" or "standard" American fare sometimes, sometimes Tex-Mex, sometimes more Asian influenced and so on... he's pretty adaptable and willing to eat what I cook. Similar thing with music... I listen to about anything and so does he.

In Switzerland, some people have been murder for being openly Kurd. Few years ago, one woman died here in Basel.
I understood that to be because she'd divorced/left her murder and his "honour" couldn't handle it.

Re: Mixed couples

My wife want to be more Westernised and I want to be more Asian.... IMO multicultural relationships only really ever work if both partners accept and appreciate the culture of the other partner.

No, this one was from a turkish radical group who killed her to hit her kurdish husband.
