It depends on the doctor, your medical insurance coverage and the specifics you need in your medical report.

Why not call your Hausarzt (GP) and ask them?

Re: medical check up

It's (it was) in the wrong place anyway. I think Family Matters / Health might be more appropriate. If someone wants to ask the same question in 2015, he should be able to use Advanced Search, specifiy the Forum and find it first try.
I bet vinayderock is female. Most males that I know can never find anything...

Re: Medical check up - Cost?

I'm interested in hearing opinions on using gp versus Kantospittals in Luzern.

We are in the market for annual medical checks & want to get good comprehensive checks with best value in English.
We are in Kanton Luzern.

Thanks y'all.

Re: Medical check up - Cost?

The Swiss system is based on Tariffs, and if you visit your local doctor he will charge less than at a hospital. A major item, maybe 50%, is the laboratory cost.

I think you should talk to your GP carefully, and then decide which test to take, maybe just blood tests for diabetes and chorestorel if you haven't been ill lately.

Ask at your insurance company, some of them pay for a standard check up, but many do not.

Re: Medical check up - Cost?

Thanks Sbrinz,
I'm meeting the CSS insurance guy on Monday & the question is on my list.
I figure it may be cheaper if in cooperation with the insurance providers.

I reckon he'll be going for a hard sell on all class of policies.

Thanks for the pointer on using the go.

Re: Medical check up - Cost?

And... your cost of the exam will also depend on your deductible (or franchise). If your deductible is chf 300 and you've met it for this year, then you'll pay 10% of the cost of your exam. If it's 2500, you'll pay for the entire cost of the exam and it will be applied to your deductible.

I just had a very comprehensive blood panel done (kidney, liver lipids, blood sugar, thyroid, vitamin D and B12)and it was chf 172 - the vit D and B12 were pricey.

But I think the standard lipid-blood sugar panel is probably less than chf 50.

My guess is that the doctor's exam varies, and depends upon the time spent with the physician, so it could be 100-200. Ekg, X-rays are additional.
