Re: Tax return - how much time?

I am having big trouble understanding this Swiss tax thing while filling in the painful tax sheet. I was taxed at source for 8 months in 2007 until I got married to a Swiss.

After 4 hours of scratching my head, it turned out I had to pay a lot more than what I had to pay before! I figured there must have been something wrong about it: my tax at source was calculated at 12.7% of income after deducting unemployment insurance and pension for the first 8 months. Now after all deductions of meals, transportation, health insurance, unemployment insurance, unemployment insurance, etc, the tax is calculated at the following rate, amounting to CHF 400 more than tax at source:

6.735% Cantonal tax
8.2167% City tax (122% Zurich)
3.476% Federal tax

Has anyone made similar experiences or have I missed out anything important? Any comments from you will be highly appreciated!
I wrote a thread on this some time ago. Read it and if you still have questions then ask. Here is the thread: How to do your tax return Kt ZH

Dear guys,
I understand your points perfectly because I work with expats every day and it is always the same.

--> There is only one answer I can give you: DON'T EVEN THINK OF DOING IT BY YOURSELF! PAY THE LITTLE MONEY FOR A "TREUHÄNDER". MY WIFE IS ARGENTINE AND WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER TAKING HELP (COSTS AROUND CHF 200.00) WE GOT EVERYTHING YEARLY BACK INCL. INTERESTS. NEVER EVER FORGET YOU ARE TALKING TO EMPLOYEES OF THE STATE... THEIR WORLD GOES AROUND OUR SUN IN 5 YEARS AND NOT IN 365 DAYS AS IT DOES FOR US...

Besides that they don't understand your language and they are not educated to deal with cases like yours. YOU NEED SOMEBODY TO KICK THEIR BALLS AND TELLING THEM WHICH CONSEQUENCES IT COULD HAVE IF THEY DON'T ACT FAST. A professional "Treuhänder" is not only doing the work for you! He's doing as well the work for them, because they only have to do what he tells them. ... And this is the same everywhere...

Tell me if you need an address...
Hi there, yes, I would highly appreciate to have the contact in Zurich.

Thanks in advance!

have a look here (read the whole thread) for some recommendations:
Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

For my tax return, I filed 2006 in November 2007 and got a refund in January 2008 (SZ, C/Swiss, not B)
