Best Loan Rate for Car under 20 grand

I did a search and did not find a direct answer, or posts are way old.

Has anyone found a reasonable rate for a Car loan, not a big sum lets say 10 - 15,000 range?

I know GE moneybank is around the 10 % mark but this seems a bit high, anyone else had experiences with this?

Do the big banks do small car loans? if not what smaller banks do?

I think I just answered my own question

Migros Bank does a 5.9 % loan for this type of sum.

It's the most competitive I've seen too, but note that you have to apply online, not in a Migros bank, otherwise the rate goes up a lot.

Also, as it's for a car, you can normally get better rates with a "Leasing" (lease loan with a balloon at the end and potentially a deposit up front) rather than a "Kredit" (personal loan). This is because the Leasing is secured on the car and you don't take title of the car until the leasing has finished, whereas the Kredit is an unsecured loan. There are also tax and insurance implications to consider too i.e. for a Leasing you need to be fully comp insured and the interest from a Kredit is tax-deductible, whereas on a Leasing it isn't (but the car counts towards your assets for wealth tax on a Kredit).

I have more or less decided against leasing purely because I will be purchasing a car at a fairly low cost anyway and will pay the loan off relatively quickly.

Re: Best Loan Rate for Car under 20 grand

Recently got a loan from Migros Bank (around 20,000 for an interest of 5.9%). Everything went smoothly and it was quite fast.
After the loan has been sanctioned it took 12 days for the loan to be in my account. I would highly recommend Migros Bank.

I know this is an older thread, but for anyone interested, for a Migros loan, you must be in the country working for a year.

Hello. Migros Bank offers the best rates of the market but obtaining a loan with Migros Bank can be quite difficult (depending of your financial situation). A solution would be to ask a free loan offer to any broker (the broker works with many banks, and can find the best bank for you).

Also, remember that a 10% rate doesn't mean you will pay 10% of the borrowed amount. For example, if you take a 20,000 Chf loan over 12 months, with an interest rate of 10%, the total interest you'll have to pay will be 1096 Chf (and not 2000 Chf). Over 24 months, the same amount with the same rate would cost you a total interest of 2128 Chf.
