Household bills

Hi all,
Now that I appear to have my banking situation sorted out (thanks all) I am trying to do some rough monthly budget calculations. I'll be living in a two bed appt. Are gas, elec, water, phone, internet bills roughly the sam as in the UK? This really is only a rough calculation but i just didn't want to get caught out by some bill that is extensively more in CH than the UK.

Many thanks

Chris

Re: Household bills

you'll probably find some utilities are covered in the rent. Electricity usually isn't - but should be 50 francs or so per month for a place that size.

Internet can be from 30 upwards.

Re: Household bills

Chris,

Things to think about:-

Health Insurance - Compulsary

UK TV - Blue Win Versus Sky - If Sky don't tell sky that you are here. See threads.

Half Tax card for Train - Half price travel in CH, plus discounts on Ski lifts
Good value if you want to explore CH.

TV licence

Internet Phone - Just set up a virtual UK landline in CH here, useful for friends and family, as they dial a UK local number. See thread http://www.englishforum.ch/tv-intern...e-here-ch.html Works well impressed.

Contents insurance for the flat.

Bring a few passport type photographs of yourself with you.
(Expensive here and you never have them when you want them)

Bring some UK extention sockets if you have lots of UK electrical equipment.

A slow cooker is good, decent meals cooking while you are working.

Tea bags, marmite etc

Andy
