I am looking for information on foreign income and paying AHV and Tax in Switzerland (BS)

I am going on a temporary assignment as a contractor to Spain and I will be getting paid directly into my swiss bank account however there will be no deductions for tax or ahv in this as it is up to me to sort it out myself.

Does anyone know how I can go about paying AHV/Tax on this income when I come back to Switzerland. I am a B permit holder paying Quellensteuer. I will not be employed by a Swiss company during my assignment in Spain. I also want if possible to avoid using an umbrella company is Switzerland as the fees are quite high.

You can simply declare your Spanish income for tax year 2011 in February 2012. You might need to ask the tax office for a form. I hope the Spanish don't try and tax you! How long is this assignment?

You can go to your cantonal AHV office and pay the missing contributions yourself.

BUT, are you sure you are allowed to do this? Have you spoken to the cantonal immigration / registration people. I have a nasty feeling that you will loose your B permit! To begin with, read the small print on the back of your B permit.

It would be much simpler if your present company can continue to pay you as if you are working here, plus some expenses for working in Spain.

the assignment is until November so around 10 weeks. Also with the B permit I can would outside Switzerland for up to 6 months in 1 year.

To be safe and keep your B permit, I would suggest you deposit your B permit at your Gemeinde / Commune while you are absent from Switzerland.

Can you do that? I didn't think that was a feature of B permits.

so does anyone else have an idea of how i can pay tax on my foreign income? is it as easy as filling in a tax form next yr??

Or just forget about it, which is often the default so I am informed by others! If you have a B permit , & earn under 120k you wont get a form. Seems like unnecessary admin to me.
