I currently make a living off eBay in Athens, Greece. I will probably be moving to Switzerland (Luzern) in 5 months time and would like to ask if anyone knows the regulations on whether or not I can continue working as I am in Athens over there.

Would it be advisable for me to register myself as a self employed person? The tax I pay is to eBay in the form of 15% VAT that is inclusive in all the eBay fees that is paid to Luxembourg.

Would I be exempt from taxation?

I read online that for my 'residency permit' If i declare myself self employed I have to show proof that I earn over 30 000 EUR per annum. ( I earn nearly double that through my online vennutes)

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you just call up the relevant authorities you'll find contacts on line and I'm sure you will find someone who speaks english too if you need it. I've always found them very helpful.

well, i guess you'll be taxed on your income. as to VAT, that depends on what you sell, who you sell it to and how you sell it.

Yep, i will be doing that too, i just wanted to get a general idea from the forum first.... the more heads the better

I sell stamps online, 99% of my clients are not in Switzerland, they are all over the world. I can imagine that if a Swiss client buys from me he will be subject to VAT.

Would I have to declare all the parcels I send via the post office? Or could I just post them as normal envelopes ?
