Tax on Company Car use

Hello all,

I don't know about you, but I've been struggling to find some useful information from the Vaud website on how the tax authority there treats company cars for tax purposes.

I read somewhere that you pay about 0.8% per month of the purchase price of the car in tax in Berne but I don't know what additional rules (if any) exist on top of that.

Any thoughts/guidance on this would be most welcome.

Best,
Alex

This is an example for a Vaud working person residing in Geneva - as I assume you will be. A percentage of the car's new value is added to your salary and then taxed accordingly. For a 630i Bimmer (new value about 100k) that works out to about CHF 800 a month.

The downside is that the addition is based on the car's new value and does not decrease in time.
