| | | If you would win 20 million CHF in the lottery, would you stay in Switzerland
or would you move somewhere else? Where/why?
Me, I'd move TO Switzerland and not worry about a job anymore (i suspect the Swiss wouldn't mind)
Full time mountain climbing, expanding and researching my collecting interests, etc. - great!

Would stay in CH but buy a chalet in the Alps and a cottage in the UK near our grandchildren.

If I won CHF20 mil I'd be really pissed off I didn't win the big CHF180 jackpot or that I had to share the jackpot with so many others!! | | The following 4 users would like to thank The_Love_Doctor for this useful post:

No. Coastal Maine. CH and mountains just really aren't for me.

I'm not sure if I would stay indefinitely, but I think Switzerland is a bit easier to enjoy when you aren't converting your original currency or needing to be frugal. Switzerland is gorgeous, and with some creativity, I think one can be content without much money.
I can't imagine living here with that kind of money. It would be liberating in some ways (and probably enslaving in others).

I would go through the motions of thinking of moving to Switzerland, but end up staying where I am. At my age putting down new roots in a country where I know nobody would be very hard.
But I would spend more time in Switzerland, and do less penny pinching. No more youth hostels |

I already live here by choice, why would I move if I had more money?
I might buy a few more motorcycles, and a nice rustico, but that's about it.

I love lobsters, but not enough to move back, I love it much more here.
Regarding mountains, my kids think the Zurich area (where their brothers live) is too FLAT for their tastes!

I'd typed up a long rambling answer which summarised as "no". I'll leave it at that; my reasons and future plans don't fit into a single post | | The following 5 users would like to thank adrianlondon for this useful post:

I`d stay in Switzerland.
I`d buy one of those houses you see sitting all alone along the banks of the Rhine, with their own mooring jetty, and private road that blocks off walkers (like me) ......
A house where I can play music as loud as I (or my family) like ..... we can have our raucous friends over for weekend parties ...... and I can take up learning how to play that long trumpet thing that makes a noise like an elephant... the Alphorn?... and the kids can practice their guitars plugged in ........ oh and then I could consider taking up also learning to play a steel drum .... without worrying about noise. Bliss.
And where my vegetable garden doesn`t get scrutinised by neighbors and if I don`t feel like de-weeding it, I can just relax, and sunbathe in peace .....
Oh, and maybe I`d invest in a snazzy cabriolet for summer .......
Would 20 million cover that .....? No idea ... but worth dreaming about.

Nope, invest what I need to top up current portfolio, buy a place in London and a small hut in Bali, move the business to HK and bugger off to work and do what I like. Come back on Xmas and Easter to visit hubby's family. Do not mind this place, but not for long-term living. Depressing..

Tom | | | | | I actually don't care for lobstah that much, but what I do love about the coastal towns of NE are the working folk who are real and crusty and reasonable. Back when I lived in Rockport (MA not ME) I'd commute via train and, one night, I had a bit much to drink, missed the last train and started walking from Gloucester (next town over that wasn't a dry town) towards Rockport. At some point, I came to the Crow's Nest (the famed bar in the movie/story "A Perfect Storm") and I ducked in to call a taxi. Inevitably, a sailor bought me a drink and I wasn't lucid enough to call a taxi...whereupon both the captain of the crewmen in the pub and the bartender offered me a ride home. It was awesome and, even today, I still check in with that captain and his mates when he's in port and I'm around.
Also, if you've never experienced a whoville christmas, you might spend it in Rockport as there's the town tree, santa arrives by boat, etc., etc. New Englanders get a lot of guff about being bastards and, well, by and large they are, but it's not personal. If you live in a small town like Rockport, folks may not be Midwestern in their friendliness, but they are good, hard working people who care about some dumb lady like myself who just happened to have a bad day, wound up in their pub drunk and figured it'd be better to give me a ride home than whatever might result if they didn't.
I miss NE for it's people who are both crabby bastards and folks who do the right thing most of the time. And I love a good cuppa chowdah, too, truth be known. And I really miss the sea.

Spent the first half of my life in CT and VT, except for 5 years in upstate NY.
