With all the threads about the draconian customs and tax charges on packages received here, I'm concerned about university course books being taxed too. Has anyone 'safely' received course books/materials here from another EU country? Any tips to ensure a seamless shipment?

Books have a lower percentage, so 200 chf is tax free, as long as the books cost less & are declared as such it will be fine.
