Cold call from Guardian Wealth Management

Hi all,

I know we have to be careful on this, not putting libellous info etc, so I will just relate my experience as of 5 mins ago.

I got a call from these guys, saying they would be in my (work) building on Monday and Tuesday next week, gave the usual spiel about tax planning, wealth maximization, yada yada.

Without soliciting my opinion on the matter, he then says "Which would be better for you, Monday or Tuesday?". I then went on to explain that I already have an advisor I am happy with, so I am not looking for more advice.

He then says "You should get a second opinion, what would be better, morning or afternoon"

I'm not sure if he thinks he is Doncaster's version of Derren Brown and thinks if he keeps giving me options, as if they are the only possible options, I will succumb and pick one. Again I say no thank you, I am happy with my situatino.

He then once more says I should get a second opinion, whereby I remain polite but firm and tell him in no uncertain terms I am not interested, but thank him for his time.

These guys are opportunist pressure merchants, and I reckon a lot of people new to the country or with confidence issues would definitely allow them access to their finances.

Just a heads up, hopefully nothing too defamatory in there!

Cheers,
StirB

I think I'm seriously underpaid - I never get these calls.

I gave the first guy who called me such short shrift that I think I've been blacklisted by the entire expat wealth extraction maximization industry. Sob.

Re: Cold call from Guardian Wealth Management

I have to admire their chutzpah.

They cold call a bank of which I am an internal employee offering me THEIR financial advisory service. I'm pretty sure the bank would be less than pleased at them sliming their way in and nicking bank employees who already have access to similar services at highly preferential rates in the bank!!

No idea how they got my number either, as it is an internal number only. Someone on the inside who will presumably let them into the building also.

I did worse. I actually had a couple of meetings with them. In common with other financial advisors, they couldn't get there heads around the fact that, being effectively self-employed, I might be well paid this year, but next year, I might be on half that, so I can't commit to x'000 CHF per year into even the safest of safe products.

You must need some life planning. Here ya go. The link to 'Adventures of Fu Manchu' looks like a winner.
