half a bank note

i found some cash in the street, but it was only half a bill. i know in some counties, the bank will weigh it and if it's over 50%, they'll give you a new bill. what about here in switzerland?

You may be in luck there, but it needs to meet certain criteria as per SNB here

• the bearer presents a complete portion of the banknote which is larger than 50% of the original size and where the serial number is fully recognisable.

Good luck!

Re: half a bank note

Has it got "opoly" printed on it and "opyright of Parker Bros." or something to that extent?

In that case it's probably not worth much

Do want to buy the other half?

Back in '71, when decimalisation came into effect in UK and replaced lsd, one of the first coins to be introduced was the 7-sided 50p piece. It was fashionable at the time to file the corners down to make it into a round 10p piece, and be the one of the first to possess such a coin.

Re: half a bank note

it's a Real Live 200 franc note, so worth investigating. i found it in the street during the rain, so it's pretty tattered, but maybe i'll be brave enough to give my french a whirl at the bank

Re: half a bank note

I recommend to visit SNB in ZRH like I did to recover a note I mistreated. They speak both languages as a Federal employee ought to. The interior of the building is interesting too. As expected, the service is very efficient. Another swiss experience.

Ah, so they spoke French and English then?

Good to know though - I was not aware that they had "outlets" around the country, thanks.
