2010 tax return.

I filed my 2010 tax return just in time in Bern canton. I have heard/received absolutely nothing since then.

So I contacted them and they said.. it is postponed June 2012 due to system problem. If they keep delay things more than a year, How can they
handle future files later on?

Anyone else in the same position or any news?

Re: 2010 tax return.

I have had some dealings with the Berne tax office, and up to now have had only excellent service. They will let you pay in advance, ask for an account number, and they pay a decent interest, 1% (If you are late paying they charge 3%)

My experience with Switzerland is that they may be late delivering information, but will suddenly demand payment, with the excuse "You know you have to pay us, so why didn't you save some money?"

I would recommend saving 15% of your gross income.

Vorauszahlungszins

Ab 1.

Having said that, I've found that the tax authorities are very accomodating if you want to finance your payment over a longer term (paying interest, of course).

I paid tax from source. Based on calculation, Canton should return 4000 CHF at least.
