Joint or single bank accounts

Hi,
I'm hoping to move over to Basel soon, my hubby already has a bank account. Can I open a single account for my salary and have a joint account with him too or are there restrictions on the number of accounts you can have?

Re: Joint or single bank accounts

No, you can have as many as you want.

I personally suggest a single account with a power of attorney. Why? Say if anything happens to the other partner, they block the account. Only after doing the paperwork in such cases, the money is accessible again.

I would not risk that.

I would always have my own bank account, especially if you have a job. It's part of your personal freedom and independence - you don't have to ask for money and nobody checks you statement and wants to know what you spent the money for!

I agree, open your own.

That way, atleast you have your own a/c as well as access to your other halfs no doubt, thus resulting in 1 and a half

Thanks I wouldn't use money for the joint account for anything else other than household bills as we do in the UK!
Anyway thanks for the advice
