"Free Banking" does NOT exist in Switzerland, get used to it and sign up to their cheapest package. CS have the basic Bonviva Silver which they charge CHF10.- /month for, once you're on that there are no more charges on top.

Unfortunately this is the way it is, and any other bank are just going to find sneaky ways of charging you for their services rather than an upfront fee.

It doesn't exist anywhere, same as "free lunch". UK retail banking profit margins are amongst the highest in G20 and/or EU countries. There may not be a fee for having an account, but in the end, you pay for banking one way or the other.
