Basically someone owns me money and I found a lot of information here on how to get it via the Betreibungsamt.

So I went forward but I could not fill the form since it asks me for his address. I know hist name DOB work place but I don't know his address.

How could I find it out? Or can I do it using his work address?

I have to verify addresses a lot in my voluntary job and I find it very easy to use (and I'd say 97% effective).

If you know his name and location, you should be able to find him. Either via name and post code, name and commune or name and canton. Obviously the more specific you can be the better!

The other thing you can do, if your language skills are up to it, is call the commune office where he lives and ask them. I've never done it personally, but my colleagues (at said voluntary job) have. They've had no trouble getting the information (it's a magazine - to update our subscriber's addresses), so I think if you rang up and said you needed it for a Betreibung they would help you.

I must admit I'm feeling rather stupid as I've just spent the last half an hour worrying because someone left me a message asking to call them (about a job I've applied for) and left two versions of their number... I didn't want to call back on the wrong number and make a fool of myself...

Suddenly it ocurred to me to take my own advice and use local.ch to try and figure out which number was correct!

A friend of mine had to put a Betreibung on a dude for whom she had no home address who had scammed her office as a consultant. She was able to send it to his work address, which of course his new employers loved. The reasoning behind it was that was the known address she had. This was in Vaud, I don't know if there are other rules in other cantons.

(as far as the ethics of sending something to someone's work address and adversely affecting their employability by doing so, suffice it to say this dude had it coming)

Have you asked the Betreibungsamt if you really need the private address, since it will be very difficult to find, or if the work address will do?
