Taxation in Zürich - companies vs. individuals

I recently came across the site http://comparis.ch, which can calculate tax burdens (federal, municipal, cantonal, capitation and church) in all the cantons. According to this site, in Zürich (commune Zürich) in 2011, the total tax on the annual income of 60,000 CHF would have been about 7,400 CHF, or about 12.3%.

My questions are: Is there any similar website for companies? If a small business would have made the same income (also in commune Zürich in 2011), what would the business have had to pay in taxes? Would it have been less than the above 12.3%?

Re: Taxation in Zürich - companies vs. individuals

Okay, I came across a very weird thing. On the website of the Zürich canton, you can calculate your tax burdens. This page is for companies:

http://www.steueramt.zh.ch/internet/...uerbetrag.html

Choose Zürich commune, and enter 60,000 as profits. Then hit the calculate button. You will see that the federal, cantonal and communal taxes amount to a total of about 14,000 CHF. This makes it a 23% tax!

How can this possibly be? I thought taxes for companies was supposed to be lower than on individuals. Or is that just a myth?

I would guess those are the standard rates. The big companies negotiate tax rates.

Welcome the forum.

Yeah. I just find it perplexing that the default taxation for corporations (for the modest income levels I assumed) would be around double that of individuals, that's all.

Anyway, thanks for the replies.
