I lived in Zurich from 2004 - 2006 (expat). I'm currently in Germany and looking to go back to Switzerland for work. I have been coming back to Switzerland for interviews and believe I am close to a FT job at a bank. My questions are below:

1) Can I obtain a Betreibungsamt without a Swiss residence permit? I used to live in Switzerland but am now in Germany.

2) How many years does a mark on a Betreibungsamt last?

Sorry, no hard facts. But do send an inquiry to the town hall of your last residence, they would be the one to be able to give you the Betreibungsauszug/debt registry statement.

Not sure about the length anymore, a quick google search says 5 years..

To help you with your enquiries: the Betreibungsamt is the office that deals with these things, the piece of paper you want from them is a Betreibungsauszug.

Just look at the website of your former canton of residence for the address of their Betreibungsamt/office des poursuites. I imagine that some photo ID and a copy of your de-registration document from the canton will be enough to get the records.
