Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

Would anyone else have an accountant they'd like to suggest (that's reasonably priced)?

I have emailed both the accountant we've used in the past and the one mentioned here (from Brugg) and neither have responded after a few days, so I'm losing hope.

You do know how that sounds, don't you Lob?

She's the one in Brugg that I've emailed but not heard back from.

Generally gets back within a day or less

It has been a couple of days, so I'll give her another 24 hours and then drop a short note in case it didn't arrive. We've just got a small panic on this end that I really need to try and get squared away in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks

Maybe she's despaired at getting my tax return land on her desk... or Lob's...

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

I find this thread just great, but i got a more specific question, and thought this is the right place.

I am looking for an English accountant in Zurich area that coudl answer questions regarding German VAT issues relating to a company registerd in CH, doing business via a DE firm.

Thanks for any info.

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

I can recommend abt below. I've used them for the first time this year. A guy there spoke good english and he gave me a pre-printed English checklist of what he needed. I returned what he wanted to him and he returned a completed tax return with a 190f bill. This is a lot cheaper than the 300f I paid before to another company . Ohh and the secretery doesnt speak English so if your calling by phone be aware.

I can only recommend this for personal simple tax returns as that is all I did with them.

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

For Bern (if anyone is interested), you can talk to Urs Zimmerli of Zimmerli Treuhand.

Speaks good English & charges about 200chf for a normal tax return, nice cup of coffee too ...

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

Here's one to avoid:

http://www.alltax.ch/

We went to them for last year's tax after an expat recommendation. They do speak english, but they didn't help much, didn't save us anything that we hadn't already figured out and then charged us too much.

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

I have been asked by the local tax office here in Zug, to find a 'Swiss based international tax advisory firm to find the most beneficial solution for you'

Help please - anyone know an English speaking Zug based firm?

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

Hi All,

I would have to file the tax return for the first time in Basel land and unfortunately, my German level is very basic, which I guess won't be sufficient to understand the tax documentation in German.

Just a question, does Easy Tax comes in French version which one could use to file tax in Basel Land.

Can I ask why you need a treuhand when you have easytax? Are you a "complicated" case with assets abroad you want to declare? The only real time you need a treuhand, apart from if you are old or have never done one before is when you have a business or are self employed in which case you will need a treuhand anyway to help optimise your business.

Surprisingly to the best of my knowledge Basel Stadt or Land only do the tax documentation in German.

Re: Finding a tax advisor, consultant or accountant

Yay tax time.

I moved from USA to Switzerland on an open-ended local contract (NOT EXPAT). I am not an american citizen, nor do I have a green-card, so I don't have to report my Swiss income for 2006 on my American tax return. Not sure if this holds the other way around , I presume it does...

anyway, I need someone to file my taxes for me since I understand neither German (yet) nor French. They need to be in Zurich, and they need to be cheap because I do NOT have complicated circumstances. The only thing I want to do is try to get some of the tax back that i paid on my relocation expenses ... which were paid here in Switzerland and taxed (ARRRGGGHH! Why do relocation expenses get taxed...!). Complicated part is that i paid for some of these expenses in america with american funds, but got reimbursed in swizterland (and subsequently taxed here too).

Any suggestions for a tax person in Zurich? I'm in Enge.
