I moved from USA to Switzerland on an open-ended local contract (NOT EXPAT). I am not an american citizen, nor do I have a green-card, so I don't have to report my Swiss income for 2006 on my American tax return. Not sure if this holds the other way around , I presume it does...

Why do relocation expenses get taxed...!). Complicated part is that i paid for some of these expenses in america with american funds, but got reimbursed in swizterland (and subsequently taxed here too).

I know a few expats who pay 1000CHF for **** service and still get a whcking great bill from the tax office.

(And perhaps because accountants will be more likely to know canton-specific rules...). Eiken is in Aargau and i'm in Zurich - do you think this matters?

I found my accountant on this thread - and he was very helpful and easy to deal with. 10mins and few emails. OK, so far he has not delivered my return to me, but he's only had it a day or two.
Anyhow, he also provided me with a checklist - very useful and made my gathering info dead easy. Hopefully the following will help someone.

I've just used Denise for the first time, she communicates well and charges a very competitive and fair rate. And she is not in my Gemeinde nor Bezirk  |

he also has a hispeed address, are you interested as these question are not related, he has been doing taxes for a while now and because of his rate I decided to pass the info on to people who might be interested

He's expensive compared to the treuhand I use.
A hispeed email address is also unprofessional for a company.

Sorry he works full time and has a office where he does accounting for small businesses. His rates are very reasonable for some people

To sum up my experience - excellent. So much easier than when I was in the UK. And his English is first rate. I'll be using him from now on.

My wife and I have recently retired to Switzerland. We live close to Sion in Valais and would appreciate some advice on making our tax returns. I had thought that I would use a Tax Accountant, preferably somebody from Sion or Sierre.
Can anybody recommend somebody please?

I urgently need information on two questions:
1) Can anybody suggest a firm (in lausanne area) that can file my tax returns for 2007? I do not speak French 
2) Can I get a tax reduction if I am paying a student loan ?

Can anyone tell me if there is a deadline for an employer to give their employee their annual earnings and withholding statement, i.e. W2 for US.
My wife has not received anything yet and has had much difficulty regarding her earnings/withholdings for the short few months she has been in Zurich. I am moving over in March and would like to file our 2007 US return prior to leaving.
