No, as English is not an official language of any canton.

Re: tax forms in english

Not that I know of. Best would be to get someone to do it for you, lots of firms speak English and would do it for a flat fee of some 100-150 CHF:

Don't waste money on a firm. Simply go to your tax office and ask if there's someone who could help you with the form who speaks English. Here in Fribourg you can usually find someone who can go through the form with you. The canton even does information nights in several cities where people can come along and get an overview and ask questions.

Keep a copy of what you fill in and then you have a template for the coming years.

Re: tax forms in english

Anyone know how to claim for transportation charges back when using mix of public transport and car?

I used car during summer and train during winter months.

Claim whichever gets you the biggest reduction

you can claim what you want but if this is checked you would only get the reduction for car ( assuming this is more than using public transport) if you save more than 1 h of travel each day by using car.

That's what we do; always claim the maximum amount. They will always adjust it if they don't agree.

Ask you employer to tick the box that he want you to use a car
Or you can't get to work in time or public transport has stopped when you go home at night.
If you live locally a bycycle could have the greatest reduction.

Re: tax forms in english

I received the impression Swiss civil servants were efficient. Don't know where I got that from: I got a letter with questions from the kommune and the German was so bad I asked a native if they could make head-or-tails of it. They couldn't. So I wrote them back asking for it in English. The reply was still gibberish but made more sense than the German, but asked different things. So I answered what I could make out of both sets of questions. I'm still waiting for the next round. Life on the edge, that's me.

Yes, CHF 700 for a bike!

I probably use it once a year. Generally, I walk to work.

Why not pay someone 150-250 to do it for you, especially if you don't understand German & have limited google skills.
