Does anyone have experience of banking with Societe Generale in the French area around Geneva? I'm remaining a British resident for now but intend to move to work later this year, but at the moment I have no idea where I will be living in the area.

I'm wondering if SG provides a good level of service, and which branch in the area would be a good one to choose. Perhaps Ferney-Voltaire, Annemasse, or Gaillard?

Or, another bank entirely?

For what it's worth (not much, probably...), we've been with Caisse d'Epargne for 8 years with no problems. However CdE have just taken a bath with their Nex???is offshoot that got into the subprime market at the top. Anyhow, all bankers are faceless moneygrabbers now, as far as I can tell.

I would say that Credit Agricole have a particularly foul reputation. No idea about Société Génerale.

The best thing is if someone here actually knows a banker who is good bloke.
