TAX return with student loan

Hi !
I wonder if some of you might have experience with this already:
I"m a repayment period of student loan in the US, which would def give me benefits if i would work, file taxes in US.

But I'm working and living in Zurich, so will file my taxes here. Might there be some benefits still ? (and make the story more complex, I'm a EU citizen )

(and yes, if no replies, I will ask a tax consultant, but not sure if they all would be on the top of the topic)

Cheers,
Bela

My wife did not. Same situation as you. EU/USA citizen and student loans and working here. She never got benefits from her loans.

Re: TAX return with student loan

If you fill in a tax return, you may find it's deductable. That may vary across cantons.

Re: TAX return with student loan

I thought all loan interest was deductible?
Things like foreign mortgages or credit card interest are deductible.

I had an MBA loan (granted from Credit Suisse in CH) and the interest on that (but not commissions or arrangement fees) was deductible.

All of the above applies to Canton Zurich.
