Credit card fraudulent charges [refunded quickly and easily]

So I did some searching, and came up with a couple of different threads but they were very specific so I decided to just make a new one to just share my experience.

This is not a rant, this is a "wow this is freaking awesome" thread.

So last week I was checking up on my e-banking some balances and I see something odd with my credit card balance. Search through the recent transactions and I see a charge of 176.55 GBP for a Sky Subscription in GB

Disclaimer: I've never set foot in GB and I do have a cousin in London but he's an investment banker and I doubt that he'd need me to get a Sky sub.

I've been using credit cards all my adult life, as emergency liquidity and as a tool for bookings, online purchases etc. Usual stuff. I've never in my life had a single problem, so when I first saw this I was completely baffled.

Requested a call from my bank (UBS), they called me within 15 sec, explained the situation and connected me to their card centre. They advised to send a signed and scanned letter via e-mail to sc@cardcenter.ch and state my case. Next day I did, and called up again my bank and decided to cancel the card. The lady in the first contact told me that it was probably not necessary and that "these things happen", but if I wanted to be on the 100% safe side I could go forward with it. So I and got a new contactless card which is nice.

That all happened last Friday, and till today I'd heard nothing. Today I got my new card, and checked again my credit card statement online and my money is back

That was QUICK and PAINLESS. Now I don't want to jinx it or anything, but that was really easy. Cool of them to accept emails and not require of me to send anything by post (if anything it makes it quicker), and while I would appreciate some feedback or at least an acknowledgement that they got my email and they're looking into it, I can't complain for the speed of the whole process.

I don't know if I should thank UBS or VISA or whatever service made this happen, but thanks guys. You rock. I know it's only 260 or so CHF, but you're cool.

That's all.

Anyway, if anyone out there has any such problems not to worry. It gets solved easily and as it seems quickly. Just putting it out there.

PS I asked the bank if they could get the subscriber's name from Sky while sorting this, but the guy on the phone laughed and said they couldn't. At least I hope that s-o-b got his order cancelled and Sky refunded. Not that I love insurance companies, just for the sense of "justice" or karma or whatever

Re: Credit card fraudulent charges

It most definitely is, I just never experienced it and didn't know what to expect. Got happy and shared? Spam material? Apologies and delete the thread to oblivion, I won't mind
