How do these people get incomes of 150k when they are so stupid as to ask if its possible to live on an income like that? Please!

No its not possible, I suggest you refuse to accept the offer and remain where you are...
Easy Tobias- only trying to do my research in the cost of living, taxation and currency fluctuations among other factors to be considered. It would be "Stupid" of us to jump on a plane and not negotiate the best deal possible for ourselves and realise we are living "hand to mouth" due to the cost of living. I am giving up my job and will become financially dependant on my hubby- this is a big step for me!!!
Good for you to be retired at 32- did you win the euro millions?

Re: What lifestyle will we have

Hi,

I too am Irish.... the biggest pleasant surprise for me was my post tax salary. A lot of people here have no concept of 50% tax!!!

Life is expensive... however it all depends on your lifestyle. I thought I would be saving a fortune the first month I got paid however then I just changed my lifestyle to match my salary!

I don't know anyone that pays 50% tax. Maybe combined deductions but that includes tax, unemployment insurance, AHV, etc. but even so - I'd think that's a small club that loses half the salary to deductions.

I think he/she was referring to the 50% tax they paid on their salary in Ireland.. The tax rate in Swizerland is definitely a pleasant surprise after that.

There are ways of doing research and if you're earning Chf150k/USD150k,GBP 100k and you wonder if it's enough, then something is probably not right.

There are no currency fluctuations in Switzerland. Prices have been stable for decades.

Maybe you should get laid a bit more, that way your husband will get more promotion and therefore more money if you're worried Chf150k is not enough

Very very unnecessary comments that show how people can be envious.

First of all, she is not the one earning the Chf150k/USD150k,GBP 100k. Second, she was very clear in saying that she is gauging how 150K will work in CH so she can compare with her lifestyle BACK HOME. What's the problem with her post?

You envious EFers are not only earning a mediocre salary but also not getting laid enough...

Yes. She asked for it really. Coming on a forum and talking openly about a salary of 150K CHF / year when the majority here have to scrape by on a mere 120K.

Re: What lifestyle will we have

Hi, this is a good salary even by swiss standards. My husband and I (no children) are on a similar salary and have enough to eat out 1 to 2x a week, buy what we like in the supermarket, and go away for weekend holidays every now and then, and we save 3-4K a month. It is expensive in switzerland, and we do have to be conscious of our spending but otherwise its ok.

Wrong. To imply that people with less money necessarily are envious of people with more money is middle school logic. I am used to a higher level of thinking by my students, so I actually expect it from people here too. Hence by mocking reply.

I find it disgusting people talk of a salary of 120k when people are starving in Africa and the national wage is just a few hundred dollars in many countries there.

If anything the current exchange rate of euro to Swiss frank is actually favouring the OP if she has to pay mortgage/other debts back home.

OP, this is a no brainer salary offer.
