Where can I get a certified cheque?

Hi,

I need to send some documents to an embassy in Paris. However, the only method of payment they accept is "certified cheque". I have an account in post but I cannot figure out how to send a cheque.

They have not provided any bank account information. All I have is the instruction to put "payable to X" on the cheque.

Anybody has experience with this? Where can I get a certified cheque?

Thanks,
AlefSin

Re: Where can I get a certified cheque?

In the UK, certified just means you sign across the middle as well and the cheque cannot then be cancelled.

Alternatively you can draw a bank cheque on your account, and the money leaves at that point so the cheque is as good as the bank's credit rather than yours.

I've never even seen a cheque in Switzerland though! Probably the second one is an option.

I have not done in Switzerland but in Belgium you could request a certified cheque at the bank. ( chèque certifié)
I would go to the bank and ask.

Re: Where can I get a certified cheque?

This looks as though you can order via your online account if you are with Postfinance, or walk into a post office and pay cash for a cheque to be sent.

There's a number given to call for more information.
