Buying property using Pension fund

Last year i transfered my UK pension fund over here. Can anyone tell me what the rules are about using it as a deposit for a property? Someone told me i had to wait ten years to use it as leverage for a mortgage, is that true? and if not, any tips on using your pension fund as a way of subsiding a lack of deposit for a mortgage. Are certain mortgage providers more flexible than others ? Thanks

Re: Buying property using Pension fund

did you transfer your UK pension fund into the Swiss pension fund system? Did you get a tax break in Switzerland on the transfer? Funds sitting in Swiss pension funds can be used as either collateral to secure a mortgage loan or as lump sum distribution to use as cash down payment when buying a house. If you have contributed the funds that are now distributed into your pension fund within the last three years and got a tax relief for that, you will owe back taxes.

I suspect the UK revenue will say it's pension busting & fine you 55% of the payout. After 10 years they won't tell the UK revenue unless the rules change again, last time the change was retrospective so be very careful if your not aged at least 55.

I agree with fatman for a change but for something like this I would for sure go to a real life professional and pay for a consultation rather than rely on advice here.

It's uncharted territory so your paying for an 'opinion', a QC will charge 10k or more & it's only an opinion. Going to court with HMRC will cost way more than that.
