Be very careful.
When afriend left the US he had a compy matched 401k, leaving the US division had its laws etc.. where he was no longer a US employee, therefore he had two options:
1. Leave 401k as is, grows, but you can not contribute nor can teh employer
2. Move trax / risk / fee free to a Traditional IRA
This has its advantages as you input after tax funds, you can therefore claim approx 5500 per year in your taxes.
He did the 2nd choice.
3. You could withdraw all funds, there will be some penalty, then place it in your Swiss retirement.
