Returning to Switzerland after stint abroad
I'm an EU national who has been living in Switzerland for 8 years. I recently moved to the US, and whilst i was meant to be away for a 1 to 2 years, I am returning to Switzerland after only 6 or 7 months abroad. I am terrible at financial planning and pretty clueless when it comes to such matters...
I have a question regarding my pension:
Unless i indicate otherwise, my pension that i had been accumulating for the 8 years i worked in Geneva will be transferred to a vested account (compte de libre passage) in 7 weeks (as that will be 6 months after my departure from Geneva). When i return to Geneva i would like to resume my pension contribution and purchase missing months, if possible. Should i be doing anything in advance of the return move? Should i ask that my pension is transferred somewhere? If so, any recommendations of what bank/insurance would make most sense?
Also, i have some flexibility with regards to the move date, and could return after 6 months or 7 months. Does it make any difference and should i be pushing for one or the other?
Any clarity or help i could get on the above would be very much appreciated!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
