Yourself, charge: Fr. 0.--.
You hardly need a 'professional' to fill in a tax form in Switzerland! You said yourself that it is a 'simple' one!

Someone groaned, but... as stressful as the form can be, you end up looking up and providing your documents and accounts for a tax accountant just the same. That's the majority of the work. (Well, for simple cases it is. Not going to guess what's involved in really complex wealth management, but then I suppose one pays one's helpers to track everything.)

Re: Zurich Tax Form - recommendation

I don't think it's stressful, most details can be copied and adjusted as necessary from the previous year(s). I don't really want to pay someone to tell me how much I have to pay in taxes! Seems a complete waste of money. And in any case you can do a lot of it online now.

Do agree, if you have only a couple bank accounts, a few shares and nothing more it is a reasonably simple process.

However - if you have property, or assets or investments in other countries then it can get a little tricky and you might well want professional advice at least the first time you are doing it. And maybe even a bit before, to minimise your taxable income.

Do you declare property and assets that you possess in other countries then? I would have thought that that had nothing to do with taxable income in Switzerland!

Understood. But presumably Switzerland can't expect to find out from foreign authorities everything that a taxable resident has outside of Switzerland, just as other countries can't expect to find out from Switzerland what moveable assets are being 'hidden' in Switzerland!

They will know pretty much about everything your financial affairs after September 2017 & everything after September 2018.

Nothing will be hidden in CH after September 2017

So there are a lot of people who have to get their affairs in order before then I assume!

Quite. Which is why they require you to declare it, on the tax form... then there is no need to involve the foreign authorities at all.

(Me, I like to keep things honest and aboveboard. Call it a personal tic.)

Re: Zurich Tax Form - recommendation

My experience is that what I have to pay in taxes on foreign investments is limited so why hide things and run the risk of being found out?
I also prefer to file my taxes honestly and stating all income/investments. Won´t have to be worried by any change in law as I am declaring all already

Some people may be hiding things in other countries out of necessity.

So they can get benefits from social services, that they are not entitled to.

You call it necessity? I call it cheating, especially if you hide assets to gain profits that others have to pay for

In Zurich by declaring financial assets unto about 6 million, you actually get more of an income tax credit than you pay in wealth tax. So fiddling costs money
