Marriage, property regimes, and tax declaration

Dear forum members,

I wonder if someone has experience on this scenario: Two people (EU citizens with B permit, in canton ZH) married with separated property regimes (https://www.ch.ch/en/matrimonial-regime/), both working full time, one of them earning over 120k a year.

The question is, should the tax declaration be done jointly or not? (So far everyone gave me a yes, but I was hoping to get a confirmation from someone who is exactly in that situation).

Thanks!

Yes, you are married so you're taxed as married. The fact that your property/finances may be seperate has nothing to do with it. If you were divorced it would be different, but you're not. That link only refers to how things will be if you divorce or one of you dies.
