Car Accessory; German VAT

Sorry if this has been gone over but couldn't seem to find a clear answer.

I plan to have an iphone connection added to my car in Germany and wondered whether just the VAT on the cost of the hardware is reclaimable, or the labour and hardware.

Thanks

Re: Car Accessory; German VAT

Depends.

Should be either a Werkslieferung (When parts are at least 50% of total value) or a Lohnveredelung to be completely tax free/reclaimable.
A Werksleistung is not tax free. But as you bring the car spicifcaly over th border for the fittment it should be at least a Lohnveredelung.

PS: It may be taxable on entering Switzerland if the bill is above CHF 300.

Re: Car Accessory; German VAT

If you have it done in Italy, no VAT is reclaimable (and you will still need to pay Swiss VAT on top).

Just to confirm I've understood correctly, since the parts are over 50% of the cost, I will be able to reclaim all the German VAT?
The entire bill will be over Fr300 so I will have to pay the Swiss 8%.

It would be legal. You have to ask the shop if they will do it.
