Moving jobs in CH - what pension is not transferred to new job?

Hi all,
when you move from one CH job to another CH job, you get a pension slip from the new CH job to transfer the pension from the old CH job to the new one.

What if the pension isn't transferred? Would there be two pensions- just one not having additional funds added every month?

I was told that you have to transfer the funds from the previous one to the new one. What happens if you don´t I can´t tell. I´d assume it is put into a vested benefits account

Normally you should get a letter from the old pension fund institute explaining your options. You can't leave the money there, you have to transfer either to your new employer's pension fund institute, or open a vested benefit account at the bank of your choice and transfer the money there (or if you leave CH, cash payout is also possible depending on which country you're leaving to).
However, there may be a grace period of up to six months to make this decision.

Thanks all - been out of town so apols for the late response. Does anyone know what happens if the funds are not transferred to the new employer and the new employer sets up a new pension?

According to a pension expert in this article: "Nichts".

However, if you do not advise your old pension fund where to transfer the funds, they will likely open a Freizügigkeitskonto at a bank or transfer the funds to the quasi-governmental Stiftung Auffangeinrichtung BVG.
