Paying rent and other bills with credit card

Hi all,
do you know if there is a way in CH to pay the monthly rent and other invoices that come typically with the orange invoice with a credit card?
I'm thinking of something that already exists in US and UK where you top-up a virtual account with your credit card and then execute the payment. It would be great to me to maximize the miles I get every time I use the credit card!

Re: Paying rent and other bills with credit card

Nice first post.

Credit cards are not particularly liked in Switzerland. This dates back to the banks' greed when cards were first introduced, leaving Swiss businesses with higher than average % commission on transactions.

I can remember when filling stations would not take ccs, even on the autobahn. The chances of paying bills and rent by credit card are more than slim...

Re: Paying rent and other bills with credit card

I asked the same question for the same reason around a year ago..

I didn't find a solution other than taking cash from the machine and paying at the post office counter -- which is obviously not really a solution.

Plus i've since realised how crap my points scheme is anyway!

Re: Paying rent and other bills with credit card

Yeah, it sucks.
I was trying to find a way to do the same as https://rentmoola.co.uk/

I also checked Paypal but there is no option to top-up your paypal balance with credit card, only wire transfer accepted.

The perfect scheme would be: credit card --> top-up whatever virtual wallet --> transfer to your swiss bank account --> pay rent.

Why would that be perfect?

If you are living and working in Switzerland your wages go into a Swiss account anyway.

Re: Paying rent and other bills with credit card

It's perfectly normal to be able to create a standing order from a credit card, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. Just ask your card issuer how to set it up if you can't work it out. No need for any virtual wallet, the payment comes off your card , whose balance is paid off by you at the end of the month.

We have at least one running from our PostFinance Visa card, making pension scheme payments where the .75% cashback is not insignificant over the course of a year. Pretty sure I set it up using the normal ebanking interface.

Salt gives you the option to pay by credit card if you wish.

Usually such transactions count as quasi-cash, and are subject to same commission as cash withdrawals, possibly they don't give you any points at all. If they didn't, you would earn infinite number of points by looping the money flow: credit card -> wallet -> account -> credit card.

But they probably add on 2% for doing so, as Sunrise does.

I have no idea as I've never tried it, just saw it on the list of payment options. I can't see the point in doing it tbh.

This is how all these American "mile experts" seem to do it: loop credit card payments to get air miles or hotel points until somebody notices and kills the loophole.

Generally does not work here.

No it's free... I am paying via that option since Salt took over Orange.
