Hi, that is good news. Was any number wrong in your transfer? Have they said what went wrong?
I kind of like CF, will not like to change them.

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

My first attempt took 6 working days (GBP -> GBP), but my second only took 1 day. After talking directly to my bank I realised my first transfer didn't contain the reference, hence the delay. For my bank (smile) I had to set up a "bill payment" which allows you to add the all important reference number. The first time I had simply set up a transfer using the reference as the name of the transfer. CurrencyFair did actually say that this was ok, but Smile told me otherwise. Anyway, if in doubt setup the transfer by telephone to make sure the reference number is present.

Yes, CF talk about wiring funds and getting ABA numbers for USD transfers, but they don't seem to realise that ACH is not the same as wiring and there is a difference between ABA# and ACH#. CF transfers by ACH but request an ABA number in their interface, so the transfer got mis-routed.

Still nothing. Has anyone here successfully transferred USD to the states with CF? If so, what account do you use on the other side?

Which bank are you with? I'm wondering if I should try another intermediate account to get the cash back out of CF.

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

I tried again a while back to send a test amount using the new ACH number. No news on that yet.

In the meantime, I managed to open a Postfinance USD account, fund it and transfer a test amount which arrived with a 1 day delay.

I was hoping if nothing else, I could get my converted dollars to PF and from there to my USD destination.

I also sent a test amount from CF to this PF USD account at the same time I sent the amounts from PF to my destination account, but these have not arrived yet.

So far all money transferred in to CF has been trapped.

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

I've made a transfer yesterday. UK-CH
Today my bank manager in Zug rang me to tell me I've received the money.
All cleared and ready to use.
I'm amazed!

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

Currencyfair's reply to all the fiasco -

As I am sure you’re aware, the last few weeks have been a tough time for us here at CurrencyFair and as a result, our service to you has been poor. For this, we sincerely apologise. We’re working hard to get things back to the way they were and we’re definitely close, but we realise we owe you an apology and a brief explanation of what caused the issue.

For commercial reasons, our former banking partner decided in late 2015 to discontinue our previous arrangement. We had a very short timeframe to get an alternative in place and also in which to inform all our customers of our new banking details. This led to many issues. That said, the onus is always upon us to make the experience as delightful and empowering as it’s always been and for a lot of loyal CurrencyFair users, this wasn’t the case. We’ve learned several valuable lessons and alongside dealing with the issues at hand, we’re working hard to ensure this type of problem never arises again.

We have added 3 free transfers to your account by way of thanks for your patience.

We do expect some friction when taking on the big banks, and we are emerging stronger from this round. With your support, we plan to stay strong, and ultimately win the fight against unfair fees and charges.

Best regards,
Brett Meyers, CEO

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

I didn't get any free transfers and so far had to pay:

- 1 transfer fee for an amount which was then returned
- 1 transfer fee for an amount which never arrived
- 1 transfer fee for a small test amount, which has also not arrived
(also one transfer fee from PF as I will now try a CF->PF->target route to resolve)

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

For some reason I have 2 free transfers sitting there.

To pay the transfer fees, I always have some ZAR sitting there. They charge 25 ZAR per transfer, I guess in this currency it's the cheapest. Didn't compare for a while though.

I hope the transfertimes go back to normal soon. Thanks for this great thread!

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

Just as an update, the test amount I sent to PF worked, so now I will route all funds for the US via my PF USD account.

The second test amount I sent to the US disappeared.

Yea. Well, CurrencyFair doesn't take bitcoin (although it's a stunningly obvious move for them since the exchange is all about low fees); but it's certainly a valid point.

When I first saw the talk about days to complete a transfer and fees of 25 CHF for 5000 CHF, my first thought was that this was a resurrected thread from a few years back.

Transferring 5000 CHF worth of bitcoins would take up to an hour and cost about 4 cents.

Re: Currencyfair long deposit delays

Good news. I got my first tranche of money out of CF and back into PF. I will send from there to the US which will incur 2 sets of transfer fees and take longer, but at least I can get my money out.

The other test amount I sent to the US still hasn't arrived and is probably lost now and I don't expect to get the money back.

This is quite disappointing. I am sure you are trying every avenue possible. Try twitter support too, if you have not done so by now.
