Exchange rate UBS

HI All,

I'm trying to understand which exchange rate UBS applies for payments from CHF to different currencies. I called the customer service and they told me that within the e-banking platform all the major currencies pair are visible.

However, I doubt that is the exchange rate applied to the payment.

1) Do you know where can I find the Fx applied to the payment?
2) do you have any experience to share?

Re: Exchange rate UBS

Often 200 bp. But then call your Kundenbetreuer/contact person and ask to reduce the spread for payments.

Re: Exchange rate UBS

It's apparently the UBS daily average sell rate + 1.75% processing fee. As far as I can tell, you can use the calculator here https://www.ubs.com/global/en/quotes.html

Most credit cards will be around + 2%, the only lower processing fee that I know of is Post Finance, which was at 0.9% but I think now has gone up to 1.2% (I may be mistaken though). I just don't know if they calculate the sell rate the same way..

Re: Exchange rate UBS

The whole thing is a rip-off and not very transparent. Don't even bother looking for the rate...

This topic has been discussed many times before, if you need to exchange money do a quick search as I don't want to repeat what was already said before.

Re: Exchange rate UBS

If you pay a EUR purchase with your UBS credit card, you get charged a 1.75% commission over their sell rate (typically the interbank exchange rate +1.4-1.5%). So, in total, you pay 3.2-3.3% extra per transaction.

From SEPA transfers, there is a charge of 0.30.- with the same sell rate mentioned before.

If you buy Euros on the counter or withdraw them from an UBS ATM, the banknote sell rate is used (around 2.5% on top of the interbank exchange rate for EUR if I am not mistaken, but I cannot check this out at the moment).
