I have recently moved from Switzerland after working there for 2 years (B permit), paying tax at source.

Does anyone know how I can be sure that I receive back all the withholding taxes that I paid during my time? I have just filed my last tax return and I asked the company that prepared my tax return about it and they said that the tax authorities take this into account during the final reconciliation. My only concern is that I have had many colleagues in the same situation that have had incredibly variying amounts paid back even though their circumstances were almost identical. I'm just getting frustrated with the lack of clarity around Swiss tax returns and I want to make sure that I get back everything I am entitled to.

Any advice about the 'final' Swiss tax return would be greatly appreciated!

I can't write about final taxation but the tax authorities here are usually very patient and clear in detailing what, why etc.

Find out from your correspondance who your contact is at the Steuramt and ask them for an itemised list.
